Facelift - Browlift - Eyelid Surgery - Ear Surgery - Ultherapy™
Fatty deposits around the eyelids can cause a myriad of problems – both aesthetic and physiological. Puffy, swollen eyelids often make an individual look more tired or older than he or she truly is. Additionally, swollen eyelids can impair the patient’s vision by obstructing the viewing area of the eye. For patients suffering from thick eyelids caused by fatty deposits, Dr. Stafford R. Broumand offers blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery. New York City area patients who are seeking relief from thick eyelids may be excellent candidates for this procedure.
Often performed in conjunction with browlift, blepharoplasty can enhance facial features and improve a patient’s appearance. Eyelid surgery is designed to carefully remove excess fat and tissue around the eyelids, thereby reducing puffiness and restoring a more youthful appearance. For patients undergoing blepharoplasty at our New York City facility, the procedure begins with small incisions within the natural creases under the eyelids. Excess fat will be removed through a liposuction-like procedure and excess tissue will be removed. Additionally, during eyelid surgery any sagging skin around the eye will be trimmed away. The incisions will then be closed with tiny sutures, completing the eyelid surgery. New York patients may be in surgery from 1-2 hours, depending on how many eyelids will receive treatment (2 or 4).
Candidates for blepharoplasty at our New York City practice usually have thick eyelids that hang low or look puffy above or below the eye. Often, these patients experience obstructed views due to the low-hanging brow.
Large, protruding ears can be the cause of concern and embarrassment – especially for small children. When the ears stick out from the head, they often decrease an individual’s appearance by diminishing facial proportions. Otoplasty, also known as ear surgery, can reduce the prominence of a patient’s ears, thereby enhancing his or her appearance.
Otoplasty is designed to reshape the cartilage within the ears and also to pull the ears close to the sides of the patient’s head. During otoplasty, small incisions are made behind the ear to expose the underlying cartilage. The cartilage is then reshaped until the ears are the desired size and shape. In some cases of protruding ears, the surgeon may use non-removable stitches to hold the ears in place. Once the cartilage has been reshaped and the stitches are in place, the incisions will be closed with small sutures, completing the ear surgery.
Ultherapy is a nonsurgical treatment that can effectively lift and tighten the tissues in the face and neck using ultrasound energy. This advanced procedure targets the deep layers of tissue normally adjusted during a facelift or neck lift, heating them with the system’s sound waves and stimulating the production of collagen to achieve a slimmer, more youthful appearance. It can be used to treat sagging skin on the cheeks and neck while leaving the surface of the skin intact.
The Ultherapy procedure takes just 30 to 60 minutes to perform in the doctor’s office, and involves no downtime, minimal side effects and gradual, natural-looking results. Many patients choose this procedure to correct early signs of aging or to postpone the need for surgery.
