Some swelling and bruising in the nasal area will be present after surgery; however, any discomfort can be controlled with medication. A nasal splint is usually placed for a temporary period of time so that the nose maintains its new shape. Any strenuous activity should be avoided for a few weeks after surgery, and care should be taken to keep the nose protected from harm for one month following the rhinoplasty procedure. Most patients are able to resume normal daily activities after one week. The results of rhinoplasty will be most apparent after the initial swelling from surgery has subsided.
